Managing LTI Learning Tools

Over 200 3rd party content tools work inside of eBackpack!  Ask the companies you work with if they have LTI capabilities and add them following the steps below!

Superusers can manage Learning Tools in eBackpack by following these instructions:

  • In your eBackpack account, choose Account Settings under the drop down box next to your name
  • Choose Feature Setting, then External Tools
  • Toggle the disable/enable button as needed.
 
Add in additional tools:
  • In your eBackpack account, choose Account Settings under the drop down box next to your name
  • Choose Feature Setting, then External Tools
  • Click the + in the upper right of the External Tools page
    • You will need the Tool LTI URL, Consumer Key, and Consumer Secret
    • Once saved you can then enable this tool for teachers
 
 
eBackpack currently passes a system unique identifier as your userid.  Some LTI tools may require different information - here are some "substitutions" that can be used.  If something else is needed, just let us know.
  • $User.username   - Your eBackpack username
  • $User.id - Your eBackpack unique id
  • For example, passing a parameter of username with value of $User.username will send your eBackpack username through cust_username per the LTI specification.  This is supported in many tools such as Compass Learning.
Any tool that is enabled will be accessible to teachers to embed content into their instructions boxes for students to view and use within eBackpack.
